mental health support is not good in this area if there is no 24 hour urgent care in louth all other support is office hours next nearest boston and Lincoln along way when you are desperate for help

I remember attending town hall meetings over 10 years ago and standing outside the hospital in protest against the closing of the A&E department. A temporary consultant, (who had been treating my mother at the time), was the only senior member of staff to stand with us, as he had nothing to lose. He told us then to keep fighting as the hospital was worth it and needed in this large county. We knew then that if A&E closed it would be the beginning of the end for the hospital.
The establishment have managed to close it by the back door, turning it into an 'Urgent Care Centre' where, If you read the notice as you walk in, (why is this information not in the local papers, libraries, town notice boards etc.?) the only things they can treat are things you would normally attend a pharmacist or GP for. Anything serious and you are referred to A&E at Lincoln or Grimsby.
All my family have received excellent treatment and aftercare service from Louth Hospital over the 30 years I have lived in this county. This has not always been the case at Grimsby or Lincoln.
I'm ashamed I took my eye off the ball with this important matter.

To Alan Davies: A meeting was held with our MP Victoria Atkins earlier this year, but though she says she has been assured Louth will not close, she is known for toeing the party line and recent moves towards a US style insurance-based system are alarming. You may suffer a lot more inconvenience if this system is allowed to go ahead.

I have had and hope to continue to have really good care from louth hospital, we can't afford to loose this place as they have nurses and doctors who care about their patients unlike other hospitals in this Trust.

Louth and Louth Hospital has a special place in my heart, all my family on mum's side were Louth people, and at least 3 generations received excellent care in Louth over many years
I am a retired registered nurse and an avid campaigner for the cause, being a member of Fighting 4 Life Lncolnshire

I recently had to visit the hospital urgent care centre when my daughter had an accident and cut her head. The staff were beyond amazing with her. They really took their time and showed a lot of care too. Both nurses and doctors there are not given near enough praise for the amazing work that they do - providing us with an essential, albeit a downgraded, urgent care when we need them most.

I have received excellent treatment at Louth Hospital. It is at the centre of a large population.Other Lincs. hospitals are already crowded and would result in long journeys.
This Government has no understanding or empathy
with local populations as it speeds onwards to privatisation of the health service. It needs to be voted out of office a.s,a.p.

Louth hospital was great when I badly dislocated my knee. I was taken in in the early hours of the morning and the staff were brilliant. I was out in plaster there, into a leg brace, even had my physio there. My treatment was excellent. Having this resource down the road made a huge difference as mobility was a significant issue because of my injury.

I used Louth hospital when I de-gloved my hand and was on my own. Could not wish for better, cheerful and helpful treatment.
Recently a friend, who HATES hospitals, found himself in Carlton Ward. I visited regularly, and have never seen such cheerful, thoughtful caring. He enjoyed his stay, was cheerful, put on weight and did not really want to leave!
Anne Young from Louth wrote on 22nd July 2017:
We need to keep Louth hospital, we need the Urgent Care Centre returning to be an A & E, we need the wards reopening, we need an accessible NHS service for Louth and the surrounding villages.
Lincoln or Grimsby are too far away.....especially with the poor ambulance service and the dire state of the roads.
I was refused an ambulance and was told by the 999 operative to get myself to hospital following a gastric operation.
Somehow, and I don't know how as I couldn't walk due to pain, my husband got me to the car and to Louth Urgent Care Centre.
In Louth I was stabilized then transferred to Grimsby by ambulance and was admitted to a ward with post operative complications.
If urgent care access were to be lost the demand on an already overstretched ambulance service would increase, and it's already struggling - when I phoned for an ambulance recently for my daughter I was told there was none available!
Louth could be utilized to reduce demand on Grimsby if it were to be upgraded..... Just don't get why the good people in power can't realise this?
Michelle Gardner from Louth wrote on 21st July 2017:
Thankyou to the excellent care from Louth Hospital, I today got back on my bike after over a year. Fotherby Ward, the surgical team and the Urgent Care nurses and doctors have all played their part in this. https://michelle-g.co.uk/physio-delivering-walking-biking-dreaming/

I use Louth Hospital on a regular basis to have caudal epidural injections in the spine. The care and treatment I get there are second to none. The loss of this hospital would mean me making a 100 mile trip, in pain to a private health provider,, whose treatment is no better than and probably worse than Louth.
Louth and surrounding areas cannot afford to lose this hospital.
Linda Heatley from Grimsby wrote on 6th July 2017:
Having used Louth Hospital severel times last year,i found it a very personal and caring place. Travelubf long distances when ill is neither nice or good for health, and Grimsby is always packed, closure of Louth would make the situation There even worse. Please keep this fabulous little hospiral open.
Robert Edge from Loughborough wrote on 5th July 2017:
I was a porter at Louth some 20 years ago, it was a great independent trust hospital, then Lincoln bought the trust, and a slow decline in staff morale began, those of us on Louth contracts were slowly forced to sign contracts with lower conditions and pay or leave. I chose the latter, a shame, because the area really really needs the hospital, closing the A&E is an act of almost criminal negligence, but when the management decided to place a mobile phone transmitter on the roof of the property, and had to close two wards,, move the A&E, and HDU, all for£10k, I could see the writing on the wall even then, I now live in Loughborough, this too has had its hospital demolished to make way for a multiplex and shopping mall, welcome to the wonderful world of Trump healthcare, UK style, you guys have my support but as for attending any protest, it's a bit of a trek, but given enough warning, I'll see what I can do...
